3-axis or 5-axis machining for my UAV & Drone arm joint & gimbal mount?

Update Time:2026/9/5

Buyer's short answer

For most UAV & Drone arm joint & gimbal mount with 0.005 mm light-weight stiffness, a 3-axis center is enough and cheaper. Choose 5-axis only when the part has multi-side features, deep cavities or tight concentricity that would need several setups. More setups = more stack-up error and higher cost.

Why it matters to you

  • Fewer setups → better concentricity and shorter lead time.
  • LusterControl runs 60 CNC machines including 5-axis and turn-mill composite in-house.
  • We recommend the lowest-cost process that still meets your print — we do not up-sell axes you don't need.

White-label oem and reliable re-export lead times.
