3-axis or 5-axis machining for my Industrial Automation valve body & coupling?
Buyer's short answer
For most Industrial Automation valve body & coupling with seal seat flatness & pressure hold, a 3-axis center is enough and cheaper. Choose 5-axis only when the part has multi-side features, deep cavities or tight concentricity that would need several setups. More setups = more stack-up error and higher cost.
Why it matters to you
- Fewer setups → better concentricity and shorter lead time.
- LusterControl runs 60 CNC machines including 5-axis and turn-mill composite in-house.
- We recommend the lowest-cost process that still meets your print — we do not up-sell axes you don't need.
